It was very emotional as friends family and a community gather to pay their respects to Jaime Gonzalez.
Those who knew Jaime Gonzalez gathered at the corner to 24 and Harrison just outside Holy Family to hold and banner and show Gonzalez they love him. Brownsville police say Gonzalez was shot by officers inside Cummings middle school Wednesday after he failed to put a weapon down which turned out to be a pellet gun. Gonzalez died shortly after the shooting.
One of Gonzalez close friend's Natassia Rodriguez was on hand at Thursday Holy Family.
"He's my brother will always been my brother I have known him since Longoria Elementary he will always been my brother."
Following the gathering in the street people headed inside for the service including retired teacher Angelita Russell. She was teacher for 38 years and has a grandson at Cummings middle school.
"I always respond to my communities need that's why I am here."
Inside people paid their respects as the the casket was inside the church.
Family member got very emotional.
A mass was held along with a rosary. The mass was said by father Jorge Gomez who knew Jaime and his family who have been part of the church for quite some time.
