SOUTH PADRE ISLAND - The young dolphin found along beach access six with injuries from shark bites on it's body is now in stable condition.
Volunteers at the UTPA Coastal Studies Lab on Isla Blanca Park are treating the dolphin for the bites and a minor infection so far. Several dead dolphins wash up each year, however a live stranded dolphin is rare, only one every five to six years. Volunteers are monitoring the dolphin they now call Troy Jingles and are helping him recover. Jingles will be moved to a larger facility in Corpus Christi where he'll undergo long term treatment.
