McALLEN - It's the hospital that keeps on giving and for the seventh year in a row Doctors Hospital at Renaissance donated to a very good cause this Holiday season.
The hospital donated $10,000 dollars to the McAllen Police Department on Tuesday afternoon and the money is going toward the annual Christmas for Kids toy drive. The toy drive has been held by the police department the past ten years and has given toys to more than 50,000 needy children in the Valley. The hospital alone has contributed more than $120,000 dollars to the cause and hospital representative Carlos J. Cardenas stated, "With the number of children who will go without a Christmas otherwise it gives us great pleasure. It gives us the opportunity to give from our hearts to the hearts of all those children and to see a smiling face when we give them a toy on Saturday, it's worth everything."
The toy drive will take place this Saturday at the McAllen Municipal Park which is located on North Bicentennial and the event will be from 8 AM until 2 PM.
