The flu scare isn't over just yet, Brownsville school officials are waiting on test results for nine potential H1N1 flu cases and school's are still scheduled to reopen next week.
On Friday, crews made sure all B.I.S.D. campuses were sanitized for students and staff to return. Interim Superintendent Brett Springston says the district is applying for a waiver so that students do not have to make up the days missed from the scare. The list of schools with potential H1N1 cases in Brownsville are: Brite, Cromack, Egly, Southmost, Palm Grove, Faulk Middle School and Lopez high school. District officials say they're following CDC guidelines by reopening the schools because the severity of the virus and the spread is not as dangerous as once thought.
School leaders say attendance was a little below average on Friday but by Monday they expect nearly all their students to return.
