HARLINGEN - The Mayor of Harlingen has confirmed that the city will be holding a special election for the District 3 City Commission seat after Kori Marra's sentencing.
Commissioner Marra had to give up her seat on the city commission following a criminal conviction and sentencing for an ethics violation. Judge Manuel Banales sentenced Marra to 30 days in jail and a $500 dollar fine for failing to file a conflict of interest affidavit during a meeting last year. Marra is appealing the sentence and asking for a new trial. The special election will be held on March 20th.
