EDINBURG - Each person has their own way of saying thank you. For the patients at the Edinburg Children's Hospital, they showed their gratitude for veterans by releasing butterflies.
A hundred monarch butterflies were released Veterans Day as a symbol of thanks to veterans.
The butter flies came from a school in St. Louis, Missouri.
They were given to the children because the valley is the best location to release these migratory butterflies this time of year.
And while these butterflies flew away, the children sent a powerful message on their traveling wings.
"We are sending wishes of happiness, hope and thanks to the veterans as we send off the butterflies," said Brielle Swerdlin, Child Life Specialist at Edinburg Children's Hospital.
Along with the butterflies, the patients also made cards which will be sent to veterans in Upper Valley Hospitals.
