Premium greyhounds from across the country are on one track today as the training for some very important upcoming races continues.
"When the dogs were pulling in, the very first dogs were pulling in, I was out front stating to everybody...'They're back'," said Maury Korn, Assistant General Manager of the Valley Race Park.
The greyhounds haven't been able to grace Valley Race Park's track for almost two and a half years now.
"The entire community is talking about it. Every little store you go to when they see that you're from Valley Race Park, everybody is talking about our racing."
There are over 220 greyhounds, and getting a feel for the track before the big day is a must.
"It gives the dogs a chance to, they come from other tracks around the country...to see the race track and race on the race track in standard operating procedures, as far as muscles and blankets and all that is concerned," said Calvin Fillmore, Valley Race Park greyhound trainer.
Although these dogs are getting ready and gearing up for the races, you won't be able place your bets until after Thanksgiving. Live racing starts on the 25th for three days...and then again for two more days next month, December 3rd and 4th.
"Being so close to the dogs, there's something special about it," said Korn.
When it's time for the dogs to go...Valley Race Park has high hopes of making this a recurring annual event.
