McALLEN - One suspect, who was critically injured in a deadly shooting involving a Hidalgo county sheriff deputy, is out of the hospital and was arraigned on Thursday.
Jorge Luis Alvarez was charged with three counts of aggravated kidnapping and two counts of criminal attempted capital murder. Police say he was involved in a kidnapping and shooting that landed a sheriff's deputy in the hospital with several gunshot wounds. Alvarez was shot in the head and multiple times throughout his body. Hidalgo County Sheriff Trevino did confirm that the incident is from spill over violence from the Mexican cartel members and is conducting four separate investigations into the shooting. So far, law enforcement has arrested about half dozen suspects.
