BROWNSVILLE - The Southmost Community Network Center hosted a Halloween party for children on Monday. Children had the chance to trick or treat and play some fun games at the event held on in the parking lot of an H.E.B. store located in the area. The Brownsville Police Department was one of the sponsors and were expecting more than 2,000 children to attend the event. Police Officer Lt. Oscar Maldonado stated, "You notice on the streets there's a lot of traffic, a lot of kids on the roadway and right here, using the H.E.B. parking lot is off traffic. It'll be a lot safer so they can enjoy themselves, they don't have to worry about traffic."
Plenty of security measures were in place at the event and bouncers were there and children were able to enjoy free food, candy and a haunted house.
