In Harlingen, a grass fire started near the U.S. Border Patrol station on Wednesday.
The rough terrain and thick underbrush made it tough for fire fighters to fight the blaze. Officials say the heavy brush fire started on New Hampshire and Ed Carey Drive. Fire crews from La Feria and Rio Hondo were called in to help and they were able to extinguish the blaze in a few hours.
The Border Patrol station was not affected and less than five acres of grass and trees were destroyed.
