BROWNSVILLE - Maria Elizabeth Perez-Mata is facing two charges of child endangerment after her 6 year-old son drowned and her 2 year-old daughter is in critical condition.
Both children were pulled out of the pond by bystanders and after police arrived and investigated the situation they arrested the mother of children. Brownsville Police Department spokesperson J.J. Trevino stated that parents must keep an eye on their children, "Parents need to be aware exactly where your children are, they need to be supervised at all times. In this case, these kids were minors. If anything happens to your kids, while they're not being supervised, these are the consequences, you can get arrested for child endangerment."
The case is still under investigation.
