BROWNSVILLE - On September 13, 1998 police responded to 1225 E. Adams to a call of a female that had been shot. Officers arrived at the scene and learned that the victim, Maria Antonia Escamilla, had been shot in the facial area with a possibly a BB air gun.
The victim was treated by emergency medical personnel and later transported to Brownsville Medical Center where she later died. A witness, who had been talking to the victim when the murder occurred, observed a red or maroon Jeep type vehicle driving by when the air gun shot was heard.
