Edinburg fire investigators responded to a quick burning tire fire and believe it could be a arson case.
The fire happened around noon on Thursday near Sharp and Curve road in east Edinburg where more than 1,000 tires were burning damaging a tractor trailer box car and part of the surrounding grass area. With the help of the Alamo and San Juan Fire Departments, the fire was put out quickly and Edinburg Fire Chief Shawn Snider stated, "This fire is suspicious, there are two individuals that were seen setting this fire and so the county sheriff's department and the county fire marshals are looking for those individuals right now."
The Chief says knowingly setting someone's property on fire is arson and considered a malicious offense. They are looking into finding out why so many tires were left in a pile but have not confirmed if it was an illegal dump site or not.
