Commercial traffic and business investments are on the rise in Brownsville according to investors at the Texas Border Summit which was held in San Antonio over the weekend.
Gilberto Salinas of the Brownsville Economic Development Council says the city has received five business investments in the past 18 months and after the most recent meeting with investors that number may grow. BEDC Vice President Gilberto Salinas stated, "We told our story about what is going on here in Brownsville. Nobody else is going to do it for us. I think that was the main focus of getting in front of 50 investors. I think we mad a very good case and most importantly a positive impression as to what exactly is happening in Brownsville. It is a dynamic region with a lot of opportunity. We made a couple of good contacts, one which is in aviation and the other is in logistics."
Salinas believes these new contacts could bring more businesses and jobs to the community.
