A Mexican citizen is under arrest for trying to smuggle an assault rifle from the U.S. into Mexico.
U.S. Customs and Border Protection officers in Pharr found a AR-15 type assault rifle, ammunition clip and ten extra folding rifle stocks in a minivan. 21 year-old Mario Quilantan Garcia was driving the car when trying to cross on the Pharr/Reynosa International bridge on Tuesday when officers made the bust. According to court records, Quilantan told investigators that he entered the U.S. earlier that day to pick up the gun and planned to deliver it to someone in Mexico for an unspecified amount of money.
