Man rushes to aid of police officer during attack.
A Chicago man is being hailed as a hero after rushing to the aid of a police officer who was under attack.
Tom Lashinski was walking his mom's dog Sunday when he noticed what seemed to be two people fighting.
Lashinski soon realized a man was punching and pulling the hair of a female police officer while she was trying to arrest him.
Lashinski called 911 and then helped the officer hold the man down until more officers arrived.
Police identified the man attacking the officer as 45-year-old Antonio Perez.
Perez is now charged with aggravated battery to a peace officer, burglary, resisting a peace officer, and attempting to disarm a peace officer, according to police.
