Governor Perry to send troops and Texas Rangers to the border.

Governor Rick Perry is sending about 200 Texas National Guard troops and Texas state troopers to the southern borders.

He says the boots on the ground will cover hot spots along the border and the money to fund the project will come from money already approved by Texas lawmakers. Governor Perry asked Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano for 1,000 National Guard troops early this year claiming Border Patrol is not getting enough help from Washington.
