Aeromexico planes taking off and touching down a lot more frequently here at the
Brownsville South Padre International Airport is a definite.
Overwhelming success during the test run phase has motivated the international airline carrier.
"The flights from the beginning have been more than 90 percent full sometimes they even leave passengers behind," says Michael Jones, the Business Development Director at the Brownsville South Padre International Airport.
Aeromexico has decided to better serve their passengers by extending their service through September 2012 and even adding another weekly flight.
"Aeromexico has decided to extend their flights and add fights starting September 21st, three times a week, Wednesday, Friday and Sunday to continue for at least another year," says Jones.
Current flights run only Friday and Sunday between Brownsville and Monterrey. From Monterrey passengers can pick up connecting flights to over 11 cities.
Future ideas being tossed around include operating a bigger aircraft to accommodate more passengers, offering better flight times and maybe even offering continuous flights to big name cities in Mexico, all of which are aimed at better serving the business travelers and even those traveling for leisure.
"We think something that would help everyone who lives there, a lot, would be to have continuous flights from Monterrey, same aircraft, direct service to Mexico City, Guadalajara, possibly Cancun, other place that people from here need to go and people from there need to come here," adds Jones.
The future expansion ideas will not take flight until sometime towards the end of 2012 if all parties agree.
