This year's flu shots are currently available at most local pharmacies and doctors offices, but Hidalgo county won't get their vaccines until the end of September or early October because of FDA and CDC distribution schedules. Hidalgo County Health and Human Services representative Eduardo Olivares says, "For us, flu season is something we want to prevent, but we want to do the same thing for next year."
As always, the county recommends children, the elderly and those with health conditions get their vaccinations as soon as possible.
