Liquor store owners say the "Blue Law" banning all liquor stores from being open to sell on Sundays is making them lose out on business and is driving customers south of the border.
Texas law allows beer and wine sales on Sunday at grocery stores, bars, and restaurants, but statewide, the "Blue Law" requires all liquor stores to close on Sunday's. Some business owners in the Rio Grande Valley are fighting to repeal the state laws because they say they would profit from being open 7 days a week. Others believe Sunday sales would not be sufficient enough to even cover the cost of opening the doors. The statewide Sunday ban dates back to 1935.
