An emergency plane landing took place in Willacy county on Thursday just outside of the town of Santa Monica.
According to county officials, the only passenger on board the single engine Cessna plane was the pilot. He was forced to make an emergency landing after sustaining fuel and engine problems. Federal authorities are still investigating but it's believed that the plane was headed toward Valley International Airport. Willacy County Emergency Coordinator Frank Torres stated, "The pilot experienced engine problems and had a mechanical failure and make a successful emergency landing. My understanding that there was some sort of fuel leakage. There was no damage sustained to the plane and no injuries."
