You see them just about everywhere these days -- camera phones are almost the norm. But there are places you cannot snap pictures on that phone -- and the woman's restroom is one of them. Police say a Brownsville man found that out the hard way.
Brownsville police say, a man was using his blackberry phone, for something very illegal and perverted.
Officers arrested 24-year old, Victor Mayora Gaytan for improper photography,
It's a state felony charge, and if convicted, he could stay behind bars for up to two years for taking photos without consent.
It happened, on Friday, inside the ladies restroom, at the Texas Department of Aging and Disability Services.
Police say, a woman who worked for the department, noticed an arm with a camera phone, coming from underneath the stall next to hers.
She told police, he was snapping photos of her while she was using the bathroom.
There were five other ladies in the restroom at the time.
These women stopped him, and made sure he did not escape.
"They were very upset, they were visually shaken, they were upset at this individual, and they were determined to not let him get away," Sgt. Jimmy Manrrique says.
The women called police, and when they arrived, Gaytan was immediately arrested.
His Blackberry phone was confiscated.
Gaytan does not have a prior criminal history.
His bond was set at 15 thousand dollars.
He did not work for the Texas Department of Aging and Disability services, and the women had never seen him before.
