Flames started at this big fire around 3pm near the Lewis Lane exit off Expressway 83. Folks in the area say they saw fire immediately.
"How far away did you see it? I saw it about a half mile away."
"I was just coming home and saw the fire truck behind me as I went by the Budweiser plant the flames were about 10 feet high."
This witness Jesus Martinez says he saw a man near where fire started.
"I was coming by picking up cans I saw a guy throwing 3 or 4 piles of trash, I told him hey what are you doing? He just set the trash on fire, he just looked at me and took off."
Fire Fighters from Harlingen and La Feria were on scene putting out the flames. Officials say one fighter fighter was treated for heat exhaustion.
The harlingen chief says the high winds and dry weather made it a challenge to contain the fire.
"The fire started on Chester Park road and I know some small structures involved not sure if they were sheds but they were extinguished."
No evacuations were ordered but police did block part of Graham street not allowing cars to go through.
Cameron county officials are the investigating cause of the fire.
