The Mission Fire Department was called out to recover a body from a canal after the victim was involved in a chase with Border Patrol agents.
Border Patrol officials say agents were pursuing several illegal immigrants south of Conway and Expressway 83 when several of them decided to try and evade capture. One adult jumped into a canal and drowned in an attempt to escape from the agents. Just this year alone, Border Patrol agents have had to rescue nearly 150 people and 30 of those individuals have died. Agents were able to detain eleven immigrants into custody.
