U.S. Border Patrol agents seized a number of assault rifles and ammunition rounds in Fronton on Monday.
Agents working near the Rio Grande river discovered a large duffel bag hidden in the brush and inside of it they found six assault rifles, 26 magazines and 360 rounds of ammunition. The items were turned over to the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives for further investigation. Chief Patrol agent Rosendo Hinojosa says these deadly weapons could have had a devastating impact if put into the hands of violent criminals. Hinojosa commends the agents that recovered these dangerous weapons.
