Everyday some one here in the Valley needs your blood platelets and United Blood Services reports an average demand of 22 platelet donations per day are needed for cancer and leukemia patients.
Carlos Mata has donated blood since he was 17 years-old and donates platelets often and he donated several times during the United Blood Services, "Angels for Life" platelet program which began in January. People who donated four times for more during the event got put into a drawing and because of his life saving donations, Mata was selected as the lucky winner of a plasma tv.
Mata says he will give the tv to his dad who encouraged him to donate blood and platelets.
