Very tragic scene in Cameron County as the sheriff says a 3 year old was found dead inside a van.
Loud screams and crying could be heard from the mother of the 3 year old boy as his body was taken from the van to a hearse.
The Cameron County Sheriff says inside a home on Jeffery Street the 3 year old was watching TV with his mother and family. The sheriff says the young boy managed to leave the home and make his way into a van outside and shut the doors.
The sheriff says the mother did not notice the boy was gone.
The sheriff says the boy was missing for two hours.
The older sister of the boy, who is 16 years old, found her 3 year-old brother unresponsive in the van.
People in the area are shocked.
"I happen to know the grandma and it's a sad situation here, that's why we are asking for the community to help the family."
This neighbor has several children and chose not to disclose his identity.
"I've got two daughter one 11 year old and a 6 year we are constantly checking them to make they are alright, we have a pool we always check them that's what parents are supposed to do for the kids."
The investigation is just beginning but the sheriff says the mother could face involuntary manslaughter charges.the sheriff says the heat could have played a role in the boy's death. an autopsy has been ordered.
