As a precaution, Weslaco's School district shut down their schools late last week, before finding out, one of their students does in fact, have the swine flu.
Today, Donna ISD decided to do the same.
Donna school administrators say, with five possible cases of swine flu, surfacing.
It's time to shut their doors...
We caught up with a band teacher, who says, this news is music to her ears.
The Donna School District is fighting the swine flu, by closing all their schools for a full week.
"I was excited because it's a vacation for us."
Assistant Band Director, Anne Guist teaches at four Donna schools and says the school's closing is mostly good news.
"Some of our students do share instruments but we went out and bought disinfectant for the instruments so we can clean them out."
But one thing, hits the wrong note with her.
Guist says, concerts now must be postponed.
"We havere-schedule those and try to fit them into the schedule for when we get back, i'll be tough, the auditorium will be booked, we'll figure out a way to have the concert still."
This band teacher wants all her students to know with this swine flu break, she doesn't want them slacking off.
"Get plenty of rest and for my students, get plenty of practice, and enjoy the time off and don't forget you got to come back," she says.
Donna schools are closed until next Tuesday.
all parents were notified by letter.
the suspected cases are at Adame, Stainke, and Garza Elementary schools.
