Young people interested in a career in law enforcement are learning all about what it takes to have a job in that field.
Over the next two weeks the Brownsville Border Patrol is hosting a law enforcement Explorer Academy for local high school students. The program is designed to test the physical endurance and abilities of trainees. It's divided into two basic parts of physical training and classroom instructions. The field training portion teaches cadets techniques used by law enforcement officers while the classroom portion focuses on standard protocol and procedures expected of an officer.
Aside from Border Patrol agents these cadets will also have a chance to work with state troopers, sheriff deputies, police officers and other law enforcement professionals.
