More than a quarter of the commercial vehicles inspected during the 72 hour crackdown, called Road Check, have been taken out of service for safety issues.
DPS officials say more than 7,000 commercial vehicles were inspected with nearly 27% taken out of service for safety problems including brake and tire issues. Four drivers were placed out of service for drug or alcohol infractions. The program is designed to reduce commercial vehicle highway fatalities through increased vehicle safety.
