Thousands of students from all over the state are missing school on a crucial day of standardized testing because of the swine flu scare.
In Rio Grande City, Superintendent Roel Gonzalez says hundreds of children did not show up and it's believed parents are keeping kids home out of fear of the swine flu. TAKS testing is underway across Texas this week and the Rio Grande City I.S.D. is working with the TEA to set another date.
A state education spokeswoman says a retesting schedule will not be complete until it's known how long schools will be closed.
