Border Patrol's Rio Grande Valley sector teamed up with the RGV Food Bank to kick-off the annual Feds Feed Families Program on Thursday.
Border Patrol agents donated several pounds of food to struggling families throughout the Valley. Last year, agents donated more than 3,000 pounds of food and they hope to double that amount this year. Officials say they participate in the program to remind the community that their job isn't only to protect our borders. This is the third consecutive year Border Patrol agents have participated in the food drive. Texas is one of the top two states in the nation with the highest rate of food insecurity.
