LOS FRESNOS- A lower valley man is recovering after being attacked by bees near Los Fresnos Monday. The incident occurred around 11 a.m. Monday morning off Highway 100 just east of Expressway 83.
A swarm of bees surrounded Julian Hernandez's melon stand and he says about 20 bees flew around and stung him. Hernandez comes to the Lower Valley from La Blanca to sell melons off the highways. He says this is his way of living and tries pay off his bills by doing so, but on Monday he apparently disturbed the bees and made them angry.
"I got stung here and here and all over my head," said Hernandez.
He refused to seek medical treatment because he says he's use to getting bitten all the time. Brownsville Fire and Rescue responded to the area and were remained on scene until there were no bees in site.
