Thousands are on South Padre Island enjoying the sun and the Gulf of Mexico's beautiful water.
Kaylee Daniel and her family are from Harlingen enjoying a day at the beach.
"Great day to be out here surfing, body surging, waves are huge."
While the Daniel's family is enjoying the beach they know the real importance of Memorial day.
"For me I am grateful for our troops that they make it so we can enjoy a wonderful day and I appreciate the service they do for us."
