Honoring the elderly on Thursday, the City of Brownsville held a luncheon at the Brownsville Events Center, to celebrate Older Americans Month.
This was the 11th year that city officials organized the luncheon for the elderly residents of the city. Brownsville's oldest residents is Judith Champion who is 103 years-old and the city commission recognized her with a proclamation in her honor. Many residents, more than 90 years-old, were also recognized and the City Manager says these elderly people were vital to the transformation of the city.
