A 64 year-old Brownsville man was sentenced to 12 years in prison for aggravated sexual assault of a child.
Last month, a jury deliberated for more than an hour before returning with a guilty verdict. According to investigations, Lopez was arrested and charged by police in May of 2006 for sexually assaulting a 12 year-old female at his home in Brownsville. Lopez entered a not guilty plea and had been released on a $100,000 bond pending trial, but now he will spend the next 12 years behind bars after being convicted.
