MISSION- A tip led mission police to a home, where they found several pounds of marijuana and three people were taken into custody. The suspects walked in with their heads facing down, Ricardo, Edwardo and Elena Garza were formally charged for possession of marijuana. According to police, a black Chrysler loaded with drugs was parked in front of 112 Quebec Street.
"Narcotics investigators from the sheriff's department and mission responded to an address where they received information that there was narcotics stored inside a vehicle," said Jody Tittle with Mission Police.
Once police arrived the two men took off but were quickly detained. Police said detectives at the scene told the two men the reason for their arrival and the suspects confirmed with authorities that there were in fact bundles of marijuana inside the car. A total of 125 pounds was located.
During the arraignment Edwardo Garza told the judge that his wife, Elena, didn't have anything to do with what they were being accused of, however police say otherwise.
"To my understanding it was her vehicle she's at the location its her vehicle along with her husband if no one wants to speak up during the interview during the interrogation process that's a problem your going to have to face. she knew that the drugs were there also," said Tittle.
The two men have a criminal history that includes possession of marijuana and DWI charges and their bonds were set at $250,000 each. Elena has a criminal history of theft and was also caught with .5 grams of cocaine in her purse when she was taken into custody Monday night. She faces a $250,000 bond for the possession of marijuana plus a $25,000 bond on top of that for an additional charge of possession of a controlled substance.
