DONNA- Autopsy results for the man found dead at donna lake Wednesday morning have been released.
According to Hidalgo County Sheriff Lupe Trevino, Joel Rubalcava, 33, died from drowning according to the autopsy, however the sheriff is still waiting on more results to come in.
Rubalcava was found after an anonymous tip came in about a body floating at Donna lake, sheriff deputies along with DPS found Rubalcava's body Wednesday. Investigators said, he was partying along the shore over the weekend with his girlfriend. Although the autopsy results show he died from drowning the sheriff is waiting for the toxicology results to determine if this was a homicide or not.
"Now there's no obvious trauma to the body but it doesn't say that he could have been poisoned it doesn't say that he could have had a drug overdose or it doesn't say that he was so intoxicated of alcohol that he couldn't save himself when he fell in the water," said Sheriff Lupe Trevino. "So we're holding back until we get the toxicology but he did die from drowning just the manner of death is what we are holding back on."
