After three public car auctions, La Joya police are now investing the collected money on several new projects for the department.
In total, the La Joya Police Department has raised about $50,000 dollars from selling off vehicles seized during drug busts and high speed chases. For their first investment, the department has decided to build a car port to protect their patrol vehicles from the elements. Behind the new carport a second building is now being constructed as a Tele port for unloading narcotics and prisoners. The department also is building a roof over the gun range to protect officers from the elements when they are practicing.
