Diabetes affects thousands of Valley residents and that's why on Tuesday one local hospital held a free diabetes screening.
Dozens of local residents took advantage of the free screenings at Valley Baptist Medical Center in Brownsville. If not detected or treated on time, someone with an increased blood sugar level can have cardio-vascular disorders, kidney failure, blindness, foot amputations and sometimes even death.
