SAN JUAN- Police are searching for a man who they say stabbed his girlfriend. Border Patrol agents with guns and dogs searching for Roque Cano Junior, 29, around an orchard located just south off Moore Road off I Road in San Juan Thursday.
According to police, Cano stabbed his girlfriend twice at the 300 block of East 8th St. before 1 p.m. after an argument.
"She ended up getting out of the vehicle and he ended up taking her vehicle and the process of him leaving...leaving the scene he ended up hitting two vehicles that were parked in the area we ended up recovering the vehicle at his residence," said Sergeant Rudy Luna of San Juan Police.
Police said the victim was yelling for help afterwards and was taken to McAllen Medical Hospital, she is expected to be ok, however her name has not been released. Other law enforcement agencies are also on scene searching for Cano.
"We have three track dogs that are assisting us from different agencies Palmview, Mission, Border Patrol is also assisting us in the search of the male subject in this orchard," said Luna.
News Center 23 witnessed the DPS chopper was circulating around the area assisting in the man hunt. Anyone with information regarding the whereabouts of Cano you are asked to call Police.
