Over 80 volunteers teamed up with a few NBA legends this afternoon to help rejuvenate a McAllen middle school.
The Upper Valley school is one of six in the nation to receive the renovations.
BBVA compass and NBC cares have partnered up for years now in an effort to improve communities nationwide and it doesn't just include renovations.
Several Mcallen school officials came out to support the event today as the basketball legends and volunteers spent the afternoon landscaping and painting.
NBA cares ambassador Felipe Lopez immigrated from the Dominican Republic at a young age.
He says he sees a lot of himself in upper valley kids.
The students at Brown Middle School will return tomorrow morning to many changes.
Organizers hope the initiative will continue to inspire kids nationwide.
