The Donna-Rio Bravo international bridge officially opened their new ready lane on Monday.
The ready lane is similar to a fast lane by reducing wait time for travelers by using a radio frequency identification document. Travelers are able to use the far left lane to scan their RFID's before having their vehicle checked by Customs and Border Protection. The scanning of the document saves about 10 seconds of wait time per driver. Even though that doesn't seem like much, officials say it eliminates more than two hours of wait time a day. RFID documents can be a passport, trusted travelers car or an enhanced drivers license.
