RIO GRANDE CITY- Border Patrol agents are fighting against smugglers and cartel members daily along the river and some agents say it's the worst they've seen in years. It's a grinding and relentless war between U.S. agents and Mexican drug smugglers.
To avoid getting arrested, the smugglers swim to the Mexican riverbank where the rest of the smuggling team disappears and try again another day.
In the last five months alone, Border Patrol agents in the Valley have seized nearly 400,000 pounds of marijuana.
"I've never seen it like this before. I've been here for 23 years, and I've never seen it like it is today," said Leslie James, U.S. Border Patrol Supervisor.
Border Patrol wants to remind you that if you see any suspicious activity to give their office a call at 800-863-9382.
