School officials in Starr County are not taking any chances. Two possible cases of the Swine Flu have the doors to all schools in the Rio Grande City School District shut for the entire week.
Both cases have not yet been confirmed to be Swine Flu. The Director for Starr County’s Health Department is handling both cases.
“In those 2 cases, we haven't been able to identify them as the regular influenza. A virus that is common in the flu season.”
The tests were sent to the Texas Department of State Health Services for further testing but it could take days before we know any results.
“Certainly we're concerned and worried, but the most important thing is that it's not a panicking situation.”
