Eric Christopher Gonzalez appeared before a judge on Friday after sending police on a deadly chase through Harlingen.
The pursuit started on New Hampshire Avenue on Thursday morning as police followed Gonzalez, who is suspected to be involved in drugs, and attempted to pull him over on a traffic violation. The chase ended with Gonzalez running a red light and crashing his vehicle into a Nissan car and killing 44 year-old Maria De La Luz Osornio. Police at the scene found marijuana loaded in the truck and a gun.
Gonzalez was charged with murder, aggravated assault, felon in possession of a weapon, evading arrest and possession of marijuana. A female passenger, Nydia Gonzalez, was also arraigned and faces charges of possession of marijuana.
