Onboard cameras, GPS track ambulance thief's every move.
A Pennsylvania man is in custody after stealing an ambulance from a Connellsville hospital.
Michael Wilson Sr. was arrested after authorities said he stole the ambulance from Highlands Hospital in Connellsville and crashed it late Sunday night.
Police said Wilson went to the hospital for an undetermined reason and when he was ready to leave, he got tired of waiting for a ride, so he stole the ambulance.
Dash camera video showed Wilson driving erratically, side-swiping a pole and almost causing several accidents.
The suspect was stopped a short time later in Vanderbilt.
Fayette County EMS Chief Richard Adobato said a GPS tracking device helped them monitor the path Wilson took.
"We were able to track his every move and relay that onto police. I'm sure he is shocked at how fast he was captured," said Adobato.
Adobato said Wilson caused about $4,000 in damages to the ambulance.
No injuries were reported.
