WESLACO - One in every ten adults have some form of kidney damage, and doctors are saying kidney disease is a big problem in the Rio Grande Valley.
That's why Dr. Levine and Weslaco Dialysis Center decided to take part in World Kidney Day. Upper Valley residents were able to learn about Chronic Kidney Disease and ways to prevent kidney failure. But the big focus of today's event is how having diabetes affects kidney failure.
"We have a big problem with diabetes which is a big cause of kidney failure," said Dr. Andrew Levine, Kidney Specialist.
If you have diabetes or hypertension, doctors recommend to get a kidney screening, which is as simple as giving a urine sample at your next doctors check up.
