Senator Lucio Jr. Proposes a House Bill to Tax Soda

Senator Eddie Lucio Jr. has file House Bill 1004 which would tax soda purchases at one cent per ounce of soda and adding .12 cents more to the cost of a soda per can.

The bill was filed at the Texas Legislature and the Senator says it could generate $2 billion dollars a year and help in lowering the $27 billion dollar shortfall the state faces. The tax would bel levied on soda's that contain high fructose corn syrup. To read the bill view the attachment below.
