A trial in Cameron county went through two judges and now it will take two juries to determine a sentence for Jesus Herrera.
Last week a new judge assigned to the case had to call a mistrial because jurors could not agree on the sentencing. That same jury did agree Herrera is guilty of manslaughter for the stabbing death of Alejandro Cervantez. A new judge had to be assigned after the guilty verdict, though, because the District Attorneys office found a conflict with the original judge and one of the attorneys in the case. Herrera is still behind bars with no bond and the new jury will begin deliberating punishment on April 27th.
